Since its first production in 1634, the Passion Play has captivated audiences
from around the world. The dramatic retelling of Jesus’ life and crucifixion is
only performed every ten years.

Oberammergau was suffering from the Bubonic Plague. The surviving villagers appealed for Divine intervention to save their families. They vowed that if God were to spare them, they would perform a Passion Play every ten years. They say not a single person fell victim to the Plague after that. Keeping their promise, the people of Oberammergau performed the first play in 1634 and have continued to do so throughout the centuries.Today, many of Oberammergau's residents still take part in this powerful work of art featuring dramatic performances, beautiful music and choral accompaniment.The residents of Oberammergau will again perform The Passion Play in 2022. The days and order of sightseeing may change to best utilize your time on tour. The included lunch in Oberammergau will be a light lunch. Single accommodations are extremely limited. Triple and child accommodations are not available.

This means you’re an on-the-go traveler. You don’t want to miss a thing, so walking and standing for longer periods of time (1-2 hours) isn’t a big deal. You can navigate hills and uneven ground, climb into various modes of transportation (tuk-tuk, cable car, Zodiac, etc.), and could possibly anticipate changes in elevation. You can expect some longer days balanced with free-time to recharge or set out on your own adventure. Please note, if you require a walker or wheelchair, or have difficulty walking, you may not be able to access some of these areas and may want to consider an alternate tour.Air passengers will arrive into Milan, Italy airport and transfer to Stresa. All transfers will depart from this airport. Travel time from Milan airport to Stresa is approximately 1 hour. Due to tour scheduling, flights must arrive prior to 4:00 p.m.Economy air rate and schedule are applicable for groups of 10 or more traveling on the same flights and dates.
