UP, UP AND AWAY!

October 5-10, 2014

Join Jeanne on this inspirational adventure to the Land of Enchantment, the American Southwest.  New Mexico has an incredibly diverse culture and stunning scenic beauty.  Jeanne will guide you through the highlights of Santa Fe and Albuquerque, New Mexico in this not to be missed adventure.  You’ll start with a walking and motor coach tour of Santa Fe Plaza and the iconic Loretto Chapel.

The staircase at Loretto Chapel is one of the most photographed churches in the world.  There is an intriguing story of the magnificent wooden staircase and its been the subject of research, stories and TV shows from across the world.

The Santa Fe School of Cooking

Jeanne has a special detour planned.  An evening at the Santa Fe School of Cooking, where one of their chefs will prepare an authentic New Mexican meal while you watch, ask questions, and sample the meal along the way.  It’s a feast for all the senses.  The next day we’re off for a motorcoach tour of the Turquoise Trail.  This land has been home to Native Americans, Spanish missionaries, and European explorers.  We’ll even stop in the quaint town of Madrid, where you can shop for a piece of New Mexico kitsch or tasteful jewelry.

Day three brings us the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta.  This festival is one of the most photographed events in the world, and it is a spectacular display of color and sound.  Balloonists come from all over the world to participate and enjoy the perfect conditions.  Low humidity, calm air, and a temperate climate all help make this festival a stunning feast for the eyes.

After watching the balloons (over 600 balloons attended the 2013 fiesta) ascend into the Southwest sky, we’ll savor the Old Town of Albuquerque, Route 66, and the country’s museum of Nuclear Science.

Are you a history buff? Then take a tour of the Museum of Nuclear Science and History.

Old Town, Albuquerque offers the unique fusion of Native American, Spanish and Mexican cultures

Our final day brings the opportunity to visit the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center
